Glanced at a copy of Grazia magazine lately?
If you have, specifically around the time of Prince William and Kate Middleton's royal wedding, you might have noticed that Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, looked a bit thin on the mag's Kate and William Fashion Collector's issue.
The magazine claimed it wanted a solo shot of the newlywed, but editors couldn't find a suitable picture without Prince William on Middleton's arm. By removing him from the picture, Middleton's right arm had to be altered to match her left to make it look as if she were striking a pose.
And while there has been buzz that she slimmed down even further after the wedding, something looked fishy about the mag's photo of a superskinny-looking bride on her wedding day.
So did the mag doctor Kate's cover photo to make her look thinner than she was?
In response to a complaint about the special that hit stands May 9, Britain's Press Complaints Commission launched an investigation into Kate's cover photo and discovered that her waist had indeed been slimmed down.
The Italian fashion mag claims they meant no harm by the waist-trimming, however.
"We did not purposely make any alterations to the Duchess of Cambridge's image to make her appear slimmer, and we are sorry if this process gave that impression," a rep for the mag told Today.com in a statement.
The mag claims it altered the picture when it couldn't find a suitable solo shot of Kate in her wedding gown. As a result, the staff ended up using a picture of the duchess with William on her arm.
After Wills was digitally removed from the photo, Kate's right arm was altered to match her left arm so it appear as if she were holding her bouquet with two hands instead of one.
"This involved mirroring one of the duchess's arms and an inadvertent result of the change was the slimming of her waist," the commission reported.
