Jennifer Lopez in Talks For Two Films

Jennifer Lopez has made only made one film – The Back-Up Plan, widely regarded as a turkey – in the last six years, but galvanised by her popularity on American Idol she is now in talks to star in two.

Lopez is in negotiations to join Cameron Diaz on Lionsgate's What to Expect When You're Expecting – the birth manual has been adapted into an ensemble comedy about five couples preparing for parenthood. Lopez would play an interior designer unable to get pregnant who decides to adopt an Ethiopian child.

She is also being pursued for Parker, a heist thriller directed by Taylor Hackford and starring Jason Statham as a thief. Lopez's part would be that of an ex-cheerleader turned estate agent who gets in on the robbery.

Jennifer Lopez may or may not return for the next season of American Idol but she is already in talks to appear in two films- Parker and What to Expect when you are Expecting.

Parker is an adaptation of Donald Westlake’s mystery novel series. Jason Statham will play the lead role of Parker and Lopez will play the role of Leslie opposite him. Taylor Hackford of Love Ranch will direct and the script is by John J. McLaughlin . There are plans to launch an action franchise. Production is scheduled for August.

Mel Gibson and Lee Marvin have both played the role in previous adaptations in Payback and Point blank respectively.

What to Expect When you are Expecting  is another adaptation of a best-selling novel based on pregnancy. Kirk Jones will direct and the rights have been bought by Lionsgate Films.

Cameron Diaz and Matthew Morrsion are playing the lead and Jennifer is in talks to play the role of Holly, a supporting character in the movie.

Jennifer’s last film Backup Plan did not do too well at the box office. Clearly her stint as an American Idol judge has proved lucky and brought the spotlight on her.
