2011 MTV Video Music Awards

It’s that time of year again! The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards are right around the corner, and this year artists definitely brought their A-games!

Tonight, MTV revealed the nominees with the help from Katy Perry. 2011 has been a big year for artists such as Justin Bieber who had his movie Never Say Never  which made him an even bigger teen-heartthrob then before. The Biebs leading lady, Selena Gomez has made a new name for herself after releasing several new songs this year. Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Eminem are all expected to be nominated after their phenomenal year.

British singer Adele was right behind her with seven nominations, thanks to "Rolling in the Deep" from her album 21, which has already proven its worth by becoming the best-selling album of 2011 so far. Her nods include Video of the Year, Best Female Video and Best Pop Video.

Just when you think the ladies are ruling the show, Kanye West reminds you that ain't so.

The man we love to hate earned seven nods for his blinding video "All of the Lights" and "Power," Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Male Video and two shots at Best Collaboration for his Rihanna and Kid Cudi link for "All of the Lights" and his cameo in Perry's "E.T."

Four nominations for Video of the Year, Best Pop Video and Best Male Video for "Grenade" went out to Bruno Mars.

Then it was back to ladies. Three ladies in particular, who just so happened to also receive three noms each: Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj.

Barbz fans can root Nicki on for Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Female Video for "Super Bass," and Best Collaboration with Drake for "Moment 4 Life."

Joining her in the running for Best Female Video are Gaga and Beyoncé for "Born This Way" and "Run the World (Girls)".

Gaga's other noms are for Best Art Direction and Best Choreography for the controversial "Judas," while B's "Girls" also got Best Choreography and Best Cinematography.

Marshall Mathers is also still important in the music scene. Eminem snagged three nominations for Best Male Video, Best Direction and Best Cinematography for his Rihanna collaboration "Love the Way You Lie."

Other artists that grabbed nominations are Beastie Boys, Chris Brown, 30 Seconds to Mars, Pitbull,  Tyler, The Creator, Foster the People, Manchester Orchestra, Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean and Mumford & Sons.
