Obviously, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made quite the impression, and we hear it wasn't just the hoi polloi who couldn't get enough of the effortlessly elegant duo.
Rumor has it that the couple were invited to attend a table read for the upcoming season of The Simpsons, which pretty much remains the hallmark of being socially relevant these days.
If you were invited to a table reading of the latest episode of "The Simpsons," you'd probably hesitate only long enough to scream "Woohoo!!" a few times. Not Prince William and Kate Middleton. When Will and Kate's trip to Los Angeles was announced, the folks behind "The Simpsons" decided to extend the couple a royal invitation of their own. Not only that, they had the king of Springfield himself pen the missive.
Did Matt Groening really dare to try to add William and Kate Middleton to the epic roster of celebs and pop-culture contributors who've mixed it up with Homer and Marge over the past 22 years? Fasten your fascinators, dahlings, because this rumor is true!
After hearing that his royal highness is a big Simpsons fan, of course Groening & Co. invited William and the missus to attend a read-through, E! News confirmed Monday.
A Fox rep tells us that the invitation was extended by Homer Simpson himself, who promised that he would be "amusing," his wife "gracious," his daughters "charming," and his son "duct-taped to the boiler in the basement."
Alas, Wills and Kate had to politely decline (we'll just go ahead and assume they were polite), citing their already packed schedule during their brief stay in Los Angeles.
But executive producer Al Jean, bless him, told EW.com that this will not deter The Simpsons from going after more royalty in the future.
"Our next choice is Prince Harry, and then we'll go to one of [Sarah Ferguson]'s kids," he said. "We'll work our way down."
Or maybe they can pen cameos for William and Kate and work diligently to get the couple onboard. We'd watch that, wouldn't you?
